Biography :

Dr. HanJun Zhao obtained his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Hong Kong in 2013. He subsequently served as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong, and was a Visiting Scholar at Imperial College London in 2023. Since 2020, he has been a Principal Investigator at the Centre for Virology and Vaccine Research in Hong Kong, and then he joined Fudan University as a Professor, where he also serves as the Deputy Director of the Joint Research Center for Innovative Drugs against Major Infectious Diseases. Dr. Zhao's research primarily focuses on respiratory viruses and bacteria, with a particular emphasis on developing broad-spectrum dual-targeting antiviral peptide inhibitors, long-acting nanodefective gene-based antiviral inhibitors, and vaccines. He has published over 40 SCI-indexed papers in prestigious international journals. He holds 10 international patent applications, one of which has been successfully licensed. Two of his patented inventions related to peptide and nanogene antiviral drugs were awarded the Bronze Medal at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva in 2024.
